You are bidding on Brand New World War II Dehradune Kukri 12" Carbon Steel Blade, Wooden handle & Leather Sheath About 12 inches World War II or Dehradoone Model: It’s my re-production of a World War II Kukri is based on the Kukri carried by Gurkhas in hand-to-hand combat in the Jungle of Burma during the 2nd World War. This Khukuri was also originated in Nepal but later Indian Gurkha Army applied it. The blade is heavier and more curved then the current Kukri issued to Gurkhas. In the wartime, the sight of this formidable Khukuri in the hands of the Gurkha soldiers was enough to bring the enemy at their wit's ends. This Kukri is a very famous knife among tourists and collectors because of the fact that it was actually used by Gurkha soldiers during world wars time. This Kukri played a very significant role in creating the history of Gurkhas. This Kukri is also great to use for any kind of heavy or light duty. The water poured temper on the blade makes it very strong. The blade is made of highly graded carbon steel (mostly used in truck or bus suspension leaf).The overall length of the blade is 17inches long while the blade is 12inches long and the rest of part is handle 5inches long. Where this Kukri is come from ? The origin of the Kukri is in Nepal, but British Indian Gurkhas applied it and they started manufacturing in Dehradoon during the WW II. Therefore it’s also called Dehradoone Kukri. Nowadays, the replica version of WWI is made at our factory in Dharan (see the map below). Dharan is a small Gurkha town that is located in eastern Nepal. Dharan is very famous and important place for Gurkha recruiting Product Dimensions:: Overall Length: 17.5 Inches Blade: The blade is made of high graded Carbon steel and has been poured the cold-water temper on the blade that makes the blade very strong. Thickness at spine of the blade is about 10 mm and gradually drops toward the tip and edge of the blade. It's 12" Long. The widest part of blade is 1.80 Inches at the middle of the blade. The total weight of the blade (and handle) is about 600 grams. Handle : The brass fittings handle is made of beautiful stripped through very hard Rosewood. And it has 5" to 5.5" inches long. The metallic tang (Rats tail type) go through the handle from blade to all the way to pummel gives the ever-lasting strength and provides much needed protection during hand-to-hand combat. Scabbard : The sheath is made of softwood and carefully wrapped from outside by buffalo leather. The Scabbard has a stripe at the back part for the belt to go through. The brass fitting (Kothi) on the tip of the scabbard protects the sheath from blade. It weighs about 225 grams. Two small knives; Karda & Chak-mak : This kukri comes only Karda and it is used for skinning purposes. Information of kukri: All the Kukris are handmade at Nepalese Khukuri House's own factory in Nepal by Bishwakarmas(Burn to kukri makers) of the Kami caste. No machines used to work and shape this blade. They are hand forged and hammered. Therefore, sizes are given as very close approximations.  Hand forging will produce slight variations. All the Kukris are made of high grade Carbon Steel and finished quality woods, horn and metal finishing. Our Kukris are REAL made by hereditary craftsmen, using genuine traditional techniques & implementations. Our Kukri is NOT Stainless Steel made. They are made of Carbon Steel.
